Megan and Michael’s Stone House Wedding
Documented by Berit Bizjak (Principle Photographer) and Carly Jara (Second Photographer)
One of the many things I love about documenting weddings is the opportunity to work within a family multiple times. In 2008 we documented the beautiful wedding of Christine and Brian at The Pleasantdale Chateau. It was a beautiful wedding and an equally beautiful family to work with. So we were incredibly honored and excited to receive a phone call from Christine’s brother, Michael and build a long-term relationship and comfort level with everyone involved, which leads to incredible results!
I first met with Megan and Michael for a beach inspired engagement photo session last June in Lavallette. At that time they shared that they met via Eharmony in 2012. After a week and a half of nightly emails and phone calls, they met for dinner at the Stage House in Scotch Plains, NJ. They were both each other’s first “online date”! After they sat down to dinner, Megan was still so nervous that she dropped the box of chocolates that Michael gave her and Michael dropped his fork! Luckily, they were both much more relaxed on their next date and as soon as Michael walked into the restaurant to greet Megan, she knew that he was the one! Three years later, Megan and Michael set a date for an August 2016 wedding!
Wearing a gorgeous Anne Barge gown and cathedral length veil from Elizabeth Johns, we met with Megan and her bridesmaids as they got ready at The Short Hills Hilton. Meanwhile, Michael and his groomsmen prepared at his parent’s family home a few towns away. Megan and Michael opted to not have a First Look as Megan wanted to see Michael for the first time as she walked down with aisle arm and arm with her father. It was a beautiful ceremony full of purpose and intention. Immediately following, Megan, Michael, and their guests celebrated with cocktails and a reception at The Stone House. When asked what the inspiration was behind this special day, Megan shared, “I wanted a classic and romantic wedding reception. It was important for me to combine classic elements and use light colors such as peach and pink for my summer wedding.”
