When planning a wedding one of the most important decisions will be hiring the right New York City wedding photographer. Photographs become family heirlooms and picking the right NYC wedding photographer can be a daunting task. However, we are confident we can help you create memories to last a lifetime and here is why:
Berit Bizjak has been a NYC Wedding Photographer since 1998. She is a veteran in the New York City wedding photography space and has documented weddings at some of the most well-established wedding venues in Manhattan such as The Plaza, The Pierre, Cipriani Wall St., The Russian Tea Room and The Loeb Boathouse. Berit has an intense love for traditions, customs, and celebrations. This, combined with the unique palate of Manhattan’s skyline and iconic architecture, makes documenting weddings in New York City a dream for Berit. Over the course of her seventeen year career as a NYC wedding photographer, Berit has had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the finest wedding professionals in Manhattan. Some of which include Ron Ben Israel, Sylvia Winestock and Bella Meyer of FleursBELLA.
With her NJ based studio just 30 miles outside of Manhattan Berit jumps at every opportunity to travel into the city to do what she loves most. When she is not photographing weddings, Berit can be found documenting couples in her NYC Engagement Sessions in Central Park, Grand Central Station and across lower Manhattan.

People ask me all the time, “What should I look for when I hire a wedding photographer?”. My response, “The best photographer will take the time to build a rapport with you and use experience and intuition to take an integrative approach to the day, so it best reflects the authenticity of you as a couple. The best wedding photography is more than a series of still pictures. It is a kind of physical poetry, portraying the essence of both people and place.
“It’s more than just using a camera.”
My approach to a wedding is to catch your authenticity. There is something unique to every wedding, and my goal is to find it. No two are alike and yours will be one of a kind.

One of the important questions to ask is "Is Wedding Photography your full-time job?”.
The best wedding photographers don’t just show up, snap some shots and call it a day. The best and most experienced wedding photographers will dedicate roughly 70 hours with each and every wedding. You may think, “How is that possible? My wedding day is maybe a total of 15 hours!” At Images by Berit, we generally dedicate 60-80 hours per wedding.

Another question to ask is "May I review two or three complete weddings you have photographed in a similar type of location and time of year?"
Why it’s important: Every venue is new for every photographer at some point. So if the photographer you like has not documented a wedding in your specific venue don’t panic! Above and beyond the actual location one of the more important pieces of information for a wedding photographer should be the season and time of day in which the couple is getting married. Lighting is everything!
