Kate & Matt’s Rustic Themed Ninety Acres Wedding at Natirar

When Kate and Matt were looking for a venue to host their intimate, DIY, Rustic Themed wedding with farm to table flare, a Ninety Acres wedding was the obvious choice.   Kate and Matt celebrated their special day at the beautiful Ninety Acres Culinary Center , a restored carriage house and garage of the original Natirar Estate, located in the Somerset Hills of New Jersey.  Kate born in GA and  Matt in N. Carolina had an idea of a southern elegance theme; gorgeous grounds with comfort food. This Ninety Acres wedding did not disappoint with non-stop delicious food. Not much of a cake person, Kate love pies and good old homemade small finger type desserts. She really wanted cobbler, fresh berries, fresh whipped cream, mini hand pies and mini lemon meringue pie in honor of her dad.  Ninety Acres surprised them with the addition of bourbon chocolate bacon popcorn!   Local ingredients, including those sourced from Natirar’s own farm, helped to make their wedding cuisine fresh and abundant with flavor and a variety of menu options ensured even the most discerning palates were satisfied.

Both Matt and Kate had a strong hand in all of the details and special elements of the day.  Matt has a love of wood working. He turns trash into treasure! For a vessel to hold wedding cards and gifts he took a beat up barrel, restored it and wood-burned the top with their monogram. The barrel is now re purposed as a bookshelf  in their home.  In addition, Matt made the box for the favors as well as the BBQ sauce itself!

For the ceremony, Kate and Matt wanted to honor Kate’s dad, who had passed away, during the ceremony. They had seen a Sand Ceremony at another wedding and knew this was something they could incorporate into their special day!  The couple found vintage bottles, Matt made the vessel to hold the bottle of sand. The green table that the sand ceremony was on was from their home. Each sand layer had a different meaning: sisters – dark pebbles (father was their rock), layer of bradley beach sand (that’s where Kate and Matt met), each took sand from the beach they visited together, flower girls (white for innocence) – room left for future memories.

If you are in search of a wedding venue that defies the expectations of guests and reveals the true love shared, look no further than Natirar and Ninety Acres. A mere 40 miles from Manhattan and 70 miles from Philadelphia, this idyllic setting rests in the heart of the Garden State. Lush trees, rolling hills and the even-flowing waters of the Raritan River are just a few of the splendid visual details that surround the estate. The serene setting at Natirar mimics an unspoiled English countryside that transports guests far away from the ordinary into an environment that gently embraces the senses.  When it comes to creating your dream wedding, the possibilities at Natirar and Ninety acres are endless!
